The Extralink OPIM-2000W voltage inverter is a device that converts the output voltage of a battery (direct current, DC) into a 230V AC (alternating current) power supply. 230V AC is the type of electricity supplied by utility companies to power standard household appliances such as televisions, refrigerators, radios, lighting, or to charge laptops and mobile phones.

If you already have a charged battery, connecting the inverter will allow you to power household devices in areas without access to the electrical grid, such as in a camper, caravan, boat, plot of land, or other remote locations. Inverters are also ideal for off-grid systems and as a backup power source in case of power outages.

The presented model is a modified sine wave inverter, which means that the 230V AC output is an approximated sine wave. This solution is cheaper than pure sine wave inverters; however, due to the output characteristics of the current, it is not recommended for use with inductive motors, which are used, for example, in central heating boilers.

The advantages of the modified inverter include a less complicated design, which means fewer potential failure points, and a lower price.

The presented model can generate 2000W of continuous power and up to 4000W of peak power. The reserve capacity during peak is useful if more energy is needed to start a device than for its continuous operation.

Additionally, the inverter has a USB port for powering USB-compatible devices such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops, or MP3 players.
