PureTools PT-C-HDEARC-4K HDMI eARC Adapter / Extractor
The HDMI eARC adapter and extractor PT-C-HDEARC-4K can de-embed the eARC or ARC signal from a connected TV to send it to a compatible audio device. It can also extract the audio signal from a connected HDMI source device, transferring it uncompressed and including a 720p black image to an AVR, amplifier or soundbar via its unique HDMI audio output. This adds compatibility with the latest audio formats to any legacy AVR. The adapter / extractor is HDMI 2.0b / HDCP 2.3 compliant and thus supports a bandwidth of 18Gbps for resolutions up to 4K / UltraHD with 60Hz and HDR formats. Two DIP switches can be used to control the EDID, eARC as well as pass-through functions. Incoming HDMI signals are equalized and reclocked before getting forwarded.

The PT-C-HDEARC-4K is the ideal tool to make the latest multichannel audio formats compatible with older AVR, amplifiers or soundbars. The eARC adapter and extractor is also compatible with the HDMI 2.0b specification including HDCP 2.3, supporting resolutions up to 4K / UltraHD at up to 60Hz with a bandwidth of 18Gbps including HDR formats such as HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. It features one HDMI input for source devices up to 4K and two HDMI outputs for the TV set and a separate AV receiver or soundbar. Thanks to its compatibility with various multichannel audio formats including LPCM 5.1 and 7.1, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby True-HD, Dolby Atmos, DTS 5.1, DTS ES 6.1, DTS HRA, DTS HD Master and DTS:X, as well as stereo signals, it acts as a middleman between older and newer generation devices that would not be compatible without it. The second output of the PT-C-HDEARC-4K always provides the uncompressed audio signal, along with a 720p black image. This ensures permanent compatibility with older AV receivers, amplifiers and soundbars. If the PT-C-HDEARC-4K is connected to the eARC or ARC port of a TV that supposedly exceeds the specification due to a too large 8K@60Hz resolution (or even 4K@120Hz), the audio transmission will nonetheless work, as only the eARC or ARC signal is extracted.

The PT-C-HDEARC-4K supports three different application scenarios:
1. Any source device is connected directly to a compatible TV set. The eARC or ARC signal of the source device is transmitted via the eARC output of the TV to the PT-C-HDEARC-4K and from there forwarded to the AV receiver as a compatible signal.
2. A 4K source device is connected directly to the input of the PT-C-HDEARC-4K. It simultaneously forwards the entire signal to a connected TV set and at the same time extracts the audio as a compatible signal to the AV receiver.
3. The eARC or ARC signal from the internal receiver or media player of the TV is transmitted via the eARC output of the TV to the PT-C-HDEARC-4K and from there forwarded to the AV receiver as a compatible signal.

In addition to extracting the audio signal, the PT-C-HDEARC-4K also handles the equalization and reclocking of incoming signals so that they can be transmitted over long distances without any loss. CEC signals are also forwarded between the devices. In addition, it features an EDID management function that allows the EDID of a connected TV to be read and passed on, or to switch to a standard EDID if the handshake fails. Which EDID is to be read out can be determined using the DIP switch on the front of the device. The second DIP switch turns the eARC extraction function on or off. When the eARC function is switched on, the eARC or ARC signal is extracted at the second audio output. When the eARC function is turned off, the audio signal from the HDMI input is routed to the second output.
